About Us

Since 2020 Grindhog Day Coffee has been supporting vulnerable Victorians suffering food insecurity, through our charity partner Foodbank. In July 2020, when the 2nd wave of the COVID19 pandemic hit Melbourne, Australia, The Good Machine team (formerly ‘In Other Good News’) set out to create a product which could be a vehicle for creating donations for Foodbank, an amazing charity servicing thousands of food relief charities australia wide, and whose resources were stretched due to an ever increasing demand for their service.

Being based in Melbourne, the obvious product was coffee. Founder and lover of quality coffee, Andy Fithall, went on the hunt to find the right product, but made it clear from day one, the coffee must be a premium blend, using only sustainable, fair trade, high grade coffee beans. No compromises.

“If it’s not the best, why would anyone want to drink it?”

But like any good product, it also needed a catchy name! A local community competition was launched online, providing a long list of entries, and hours of great banter on social media for people in lock down. A clever person called Kylie submitted the name GRINDHOG DAY, which was not only very funny, but really relevant to the situation at the time. And so it was decided, and Grindhog Day Coffee was born. Our humble, but mighty coffee beans, have been keeping Melbournians happy since, with the knowledge that they can help out their neighbour in need, just by drinking GOOD coffee.
